A Mobile App to the Rescue
Every year, Ocean Conservancy hosts the International Coastal Cleanup, where volunteers pick up trash along beaches and waterways. Collecting the cleanup data was a manual and tedious process. Volunteers wrote it down and event coordinators later entered it in a database. Beaconfire RED streamlined and automated the data collection process by developing a new mobile application called Clean Swell.

Synthesizing Data in the Palm of Your Hand
Protecting the environment for future generations is something we look for in our clients and employees. We’ve been working with Ocean Conservancy since 2008 streamlining online data entry and reporting. The next great frontier was going mobile. Users can now instantaneously report back the type of trash, quantity and exactly where they found it. App users can also share via social media and save a history of their clean-ups. Available on iOs and Android, the app increases volunteer engagement, streamlines data collection and extends data gathering year-round. We are currently working with Ocean Conservancy to continue evolving the app for even more user engagement.
